History
The Gifford-Risley House is a Gothic-Revival style home built in 1877 that features seven bedrooms, a verandah, and a conservatory. Located in Media, Delaware County, PA, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.
Rooms
The main floor of the inn is decorated with a variety of Victorian-style furnishings. The Formal Parlor is filled with French Renaissance style centerpieces and showcases a white marble fireplace, where you can sit back and enjoy a cup of tea. Step into the quiet yet inviting Library where you can get lost in an array of books or pick up a game of Chess.
Each bedroom available to book is decorated for staging a different time period, ranging from Victorian to Art Deco.
The Empire Room is decorated with a French-inspired Neoclassical style from the early 19th century. You’ll find elaborate pieces of furniture created in the early 1800s and examples of the Greek Key design all around the room.
The Queen Anne Revival Room is soft, inviting, and graceful, heavily decorated with floral prints throughout the room. Named after Queen Anne from the early 1700s, the room introduces delicate pieces of furniture.
The Arts and Crafts Room was designed with a simple design of Mission-style pieces taken from a small group of English philosophers, artists, and architects in the late 1800s. Located in the back of the house, this room is the perfect space for someone who prefers a quiet area.
Renaissance Revival Room is inspired by classic Italian designs using carved floral, fruit and foliage motifs, scrolls, and knots. This room also features a small private balcony and a beautiful gray marble fireplace to warm up your room during the winter season.
