The Barnstormers Theater
History
The organization started back in 1909 by a small group that created skits, shows, and musicals for their own entertainment. Such shows were initially held in Ward’s Hall, which is where they held their first-ever performance, The Arabian Nights, on January 22, 1909.
As the oldest continuously operating community theatre in the state of Pennsylvania and the third oldest in the United States, The Barnstormers Theater produces about six plays annually. The theatre serves the local community and surrounding areas of Ridley Park.
Productions
With more than 600 performances held over the past century, Barnstormers theatre works hard to provide its audience with quality entertainment, friendly staff, and a well-rounded variety of shows.

The Barnstormers Youth Program
Every summer, the theater hosts auditions for youth to be a part of the summer play of choice. Their mission is to provide a fun, educational, and memorable theatrical experience, all while also teaching leadership and teamwork skills.
The theatre provides children with performance workshops to prepare them for the vocal and dance audition process. Once callbacks are made, instructors practice, train, and educate the young actors. Performers also are included in creating costumes and learning what it takes to make a great theatrical show.
Get Involved
Barnstormers is always accepting volunteer and greatly appreciate the support received from the community. Volunteers can help with almost every field from facility maintenance, ushering shows, creating backdrop and props, and operating the crew backstage.
