Chester Township
The Township of Chester is situated in the southern region of Delaware County in the state of Pennsylvania. The township covers 915.2 acres and sits at an elevation of 0 feet. Chester Plaza, Aston, Twin Oaks, Upland, and Parkside all share a border with the township. Feltonville is a community within the township near the southern border.
History
The area was among the first districts following William Penn’s initial visit to the region in 1682. As far back as 1682, the community was referenced in court documents pertaining to the creation of a road traveling from Chester to Providence.
The township suffered during the American Revolutionary War under the strong arm of the British Army. The Historical Society of Pennsylvania has compiled a list of all the losses endured during that time.
